How to Exclude Optins from Emails

  1. Download your list of opt-ins as a CSV file (names and emails)
  2. Upload this list into your Infusionsoft account and apply a tag to the contacts during upload. You will want to create a NEW tag for this and use it to identify all your opt-ins for this launch.
  3. Run a duplicate contact search
    Under ADMIN -> Data Cleanup -> Check for Duplicate Contact Records
    This process will take time to complete if you do not already do this on a regular basis. For more instructions on this process, click here: https://help.infusionsoft.com/help/identify-duplicate-contact-records
  4. Merge duplicate contact records
    Under ADMIN -> Data Cleanup -> Merge Duplicate Contact Records By Only Adding New Data, Not Overwriting Old Data

  5. Exclude these opt-ins from emails
    Using the tag you created and applied to this group of opt-ins, you will choose to exclude them from your future emails.
    • If you are using the Broadcast Emails, in the tags section, you will choose: Doesn’t have ANY of these Tags, and list the tag.
    • If you have a campaign setup, you can pull an active contacts report, search for contacts with your opt-in tag, select all, and run the action – Start/Stop a Campaign Sequence. Then choose to STOP the email sequence that is in your campaign.
